Visiting 16 days of Activism Event & other networking : A Day of Outreach in London Hackney

Kirsten Warrender

On December 4th, 2024, Mia and Karen visited several organisations in Hackney, London, to strengthen outreach efforts, with their primary focus centred on attending the 16 Days of Activism event. The day began with a visit to City and Islington College on Blackstock Road, where we met with the Assistant Principal and the Student Support Team. The meeting was highly productive, with a focus on identifying pathways for ILF to support students in accessing job opportunities and advancing their professional development. This collaboration has the potential to empower students with tools and resources for a brighter future.

Next, we visited the Finsbury Park Trust, where we had insightful discussions with the Chief Executive and other professionals. Our time there also involved engagement and knowledge development with several charitable organisations operating in the area. We left ILF materials, fostering the potential for future collaboration and communication.

Continuing our outreach, we delivered materials to the Muslim Welfare House and engaged with other organisations in the area, laying the groundwork for referral opportunities. These relationships are crucial to enabling ILF to continue supporting vulnerable women and girls effectively.

We concluded the day by participating in the 16 Days of Activism event, hosted by the London Borough of Hackney. Introduced by the Community Safety and Principal Enforcement Officer, the event provided an opportunity to connect with professionals from the police, VAWG local authorities, and a Young Women and Girls Advocate from Nia Charity. We also distributed materials to individuals outside City and Islington College, offering support and advice to the local community while broadening our professional network with key stakeholders, including the police.

This day highlighted the strength of collaboration and the impact of working towards shared goals. By building connections and expanding our network, ILF reaffirms its dedication to making a meaningful difference and advancing its mission to support women and girls.
